مخطط لجهاز الموجات فوق الصوتية - السونار - لشرح الأجزاء الرئيسية بالجهاز و وظيفة كل جزء منها، و تم كتابة المقال بالإنجليزية لشرح افضل و تثبيت للمصطلحات الالكترونية الموجودة بتلك الأجزاء لتعظيم الاستفادة منها على اعتبار ان قراءة الموضوع تشغل المتخصصين فقط.. 

تم الاعتماد على جهاز Titan -sonoSite في الشرح علماً بأن الاختلافات بين الاجهزة بسيطة و فكرة العمل الرئيسية متشابهة بنسبة تفوق 90 بالمائة في جميع الأجهزة... و الاختلافات تأتي بتقدم التكنولوجيات في كل جزء من أجزاء الجهاز.



Block diagram of Titan SonoSite U.S. System shows its major sections such as:-
the transducer → scanhead
the frontend subsystem (acquistion system)
the digital signal processing subsystem
the backend subsystem (Display system)
the control subsystem
the power supply
and here is a brief of each section function,
the Transducer: it works as a Transceiver, during transmit stage it converts the electrical pulses to acoustic wave, and during the Receive stage it converts the acoustic echos into electrical signal to be processed next. → so it is just a tool in the hand of the Front end subsystem.

the FrontEnd subsys.: it controls the modality by which the device works... such as 2D, color Doppler..etc.
it consists of two main portions, the Transmitter and receiver.
The transmit section consists of a waveform generator, delay block, and high power high voltage driver to excite the transducer element.
The receive section consists of a transmit/receive switch to protect the receiver from the transmit voltage, a variable gain receiver to amplify and condition the return echoes, an A/D to digitize the data, a delay block to focus the return signals and a weight block to scale the return echoes for each channel. All the signals are then summed together to generate the beam formed receive data

the digital signal processing subsystem DSP: its main function is to enhance the received signal, it receives data from the front end chip sets, performs processing to enhance the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of signal features of interest, and prepares data for raster scan conversion and display.

the backend subsystem: it converts the raw acquisition data (received signals) into raster images to be displayed on screen.
it consist of necessary parts for its function such as flash suppression, filters, video path control, display memory .. etc.

the control system: it consists of three main portions
• The core control subsystem: it contains the processor, the system bus, the system memory resources of
FLASH and RAM, the interrupt logic, system timers...etc.
• Support for the ultrasound subsystem consists of a scanhead interface, scanhead multiplexer control, a portion of the system FLASH for storage of saved images, and a control path to program the ultrasound data path.
• Communication interfaces consist of an Ethernet interface, USB port, I2C bus...etc.

the Power supply: it provides and controls the system power.
it contains the Analog pwr supplies, the Digital pwr supplies, the display pwr supplies and the Transducer pwr supplies in addition to the power monitor and control system.
